There was a general hum of anticipation as Trent parents began to arrive at the Obolensky for TPA Quiz Night and early arrivals seized the opportunity to get a head start on the picture and music rounds which were already waiting on tables.
Once everyone was seated, quizmaster Mr Gregory started the trivia and the questions did not disappoint with many guests left scratching their heads as he fired out one question after another. A break commenced half way through to allow guests to enjoy the light supper provided and refill their glasses. The TPA took this opportunity to hand over a cheque for £1,000 to Kevin Curtis from the Canaan Trust, the commendable amount raised by TPA summer event Rock on the Terrace. Kevin thanked them for their generosity and informed everyone that the donation would enable the Trust to fix the roof of a kitchen where meals are provided to the local homeless community in Long Eaton.
During the second half questions followed the style of popular game show ‘Only Connect’ and a lively atmosphere developed with the audience gambling their points for early answers in the hopes of overtaking their competition. Finally, after much fun, the winners were announced and the teachers secured first place – well done to them and thank you to all who came! An additional thank you to those guests who purchased a raffle ticket on the night and contributed to the £300 in total raised for Children in Need.
