The children may have only just gone back to school but Trent College and its junior school The Elms in Long Eaton are inviting you to think about your child’s education for next year by opening their doors on Saturday 3 October.
The Open Day gets underway at 9.30am and includes tours of the schools, fun, interactive subject-based activities and opportunities to meet students and staff from both schools, along with presentations to give you and your family a real taste of what everyday life at Trent College and The Elms is like.
Both schools recently received glowing ISI inspection reports, with Trent College praised for the pupils’ achievements, both academically - helped by the “consistently good and increasingly excellent teaching” - and in terms of the “excellent” extra-curricular provision.
Meanwhile for its Early Years provision (children aged 0-5 years) The Elms was judged outstanding in three out of four key areas, with the rest of The Elms rated excellent in five out of six key areas with the other areas ‘good’.
This year Trent College bucked the national trend of an overall fall in the number of top GCSE grades awarded as the school celebrated a 6% increase in grades scored at A* or A on 2014, while there was also a 6% increase in the top grades awarded at A-level too, with 71% of all students’ results graded A*-B – a 4% increase on last year.
The Elms Junior School and Nursery focuses on educating the whole child and enabling each pupil to develop academically, socially and physically. This is achieved through providing pupils with a wealth of opportunities, and enabling them to grow and learn in a supportive and stimulating environment.
