Celebrating 500 years of Thai-UK Relations

Alumni (OTs)

On Saturday 7th March the Thailand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and British Embassy, in conjunction with the British Council, will host a Royal Reception celebrating 500 years of Thailand-UK relations.

Trent College is honoured to have been invited to exhibit alongside Eton College at the Reception, being the two UK schools to have enjoyed a long-standing relationship with Thailand.

Thai Old Tridents include the two former Thai Prime Ministers, Kukrit Pramoj and Seni Pramoj, and the Royal Thai Privy Councillor, Musician and Composer His Excellency Admiral Mom Luang Usni Pramoj.

Over the years, Trent has continued to enjoy visits to Thailand, meeting with Thai Old Tridents, of whom there are around 30, and the School’s link with Thailand remains very strong.

The Royal Reception, being held at the Central Embassy Bangkok, will be attended by HRH Princess Sirindhorn. Tre Pramoj, Old Trident and son of Usni will accompany the Princess to an exhibition display of Trent College. Joining Tre as guests at the Reception, are his mother Varaporn and wife Pen.

The British Embassy is the United Kingdom’s International Organisation for Cultural Relations and Education Opportunities.
