Music Scholar to Perform at The Royal Concert Hall

When the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra play a concert of Russian symphonies on Friday 20th February, Trent College’s Rudi Reed will be playing too.

Rudi who is in Year 12 at Trent, has been asked to give a 40 minute piano performance in the foyer of The Royal Concert Hall (RCH) before the concert begins and will play again during the interval.

Rudi has a love for Russian piano music and chose Rachmaninov’s B minor Prelude to perform to his fellow pupils during a Chapel service.

The performance at RCH will combine some classical piano favourites with music by Russian composers Rachmaninov and Khachaturian to compliment the orchestra’s Russian programme.

This is not the first time Rudi has played in the Royal Concert Hall foyer; he first played there at the age of 11 and will also be playing more pre-concert performances next season.

Rudi is dedicated to succeeding as a pianist and is currently preparing applications to study at a conservatoire after his time at Trent.

Rudi Reed comments “At Trent College I have a great deal of support from music teachers, which is really important. The teachers are very accessible and there is constant support. Boarding here also means that I can do the several hours of practice I need every day.”
