Following on from our recent adventure, climbing at Birchen edge, the Adventure Sports group have spent the last two games sessions following Mole’s advice and messing about on the water.
Matlock provided a more technical challenge requiring greater precision in positioning the kayaks in the river and the thrill of surfing, shooting and playing in the rapids.
Kayaking has been the order of the day with sessions at Darley Abbey and Matlock Slalom Course. For many, it was a chance to develop some basic skills, gaining directional control and getting used to carrying and setting up the boats, along with basic rescue techniques.
For the more advanced, a chance to develop their first open water roll; a very different experience to rolling in the school pool.
