Karting Talent Tom Bids to Continue Hot Streak
Promising Trent College karting talent, Tom Wood, Year 7 continues with his ambitions to become a Formula One world champion.
Tom has started 2014 with a bang, being crowned Trent Valley Kart Club (TVKC) Winter Series Champion in IAME Cadet Category for the second year running. He then followed up that success with a fought hard victory at the opening round of the 2014 MSA Super One British Kart Championship at Shenington, near Banbury in late March.
More recently Tom competed in round 2 of the Super One British Championship at Rowrah qualifying 3rd in his group. Super One bred the likes of Lewis Hamilton, Jenson Button and David Coulthard. Now Trent College’s very own Tom Wood is bidding to follow in their footsteps – and we are fully behind him.
Tim Wyatt and his cricket tour playing as part of Cornwall U15’s – Tim is in Year 10 here at Trent College…
Tim comments…“I have recently been on a cricket tour to the West Indies whereas Cornwall U15’s we played around nine matches. Each was a great experience and many, if not all were testing, especially given the conditions. Coping with the heat was tough, however having been out to Sri Lanka a couple of months ago, I was slightly adjusted. Despite this, in the end we all exceeded our expectations of performance as a team, particularly as we became more acclimatised to the conditions. As an overall experience it was great; it was mainly a match-based tour where we played both Trinidad and Tobago’s national U15 side along with the youth Barbados side. We were provided with a great opportunity to play at the Kensington Oval on the final day where we all indulged in the extraordinary facilities and managed to pull off a tight win. Personally, I managed to score a few runs towards the back end of the tour, with a century and two fifties. It was a great tour and hopefully has put me in good stead for the upcoming season.”
