Fairtrade Fight

Fairtrade Fight – the Geography Department supports Foncho

Following on from the success of last year, the Geography department ran two Fairtrade Tuckshops in support of the Fairtrade Foundation. This activity runs alongside the curriculum teaching in Year 8 of global supply chain and the merits of Fairtrade during Fairtrade Fortnight. The enterprise was bigger and better this year, hosting some of the old favourites such as the fairbreak and double chocolate cookies, but also featuring some new products such as Miss BB’s fairtrade flapjack, rocky road and hot chocolates.

The department were helped by our trusty team of hard sellers; Matisse Oakes, Farida Musa Ujah and Katelyn Wilkes. This team, come rain or shine, were on the stalls, encouraging sales and teaching Mr Marriott a thing or two about the “hard sell”. The tuckshop purchased over £350 worth of stock from the foundation and due to the support of the Trent community in Senior School and Year 7 base, we will be sending an additional £250 donation.

The Geography department would like to thank all those who bought products from us over the past two weeks and don’t worry, we will be back in February 2015!

A special thank you must go to Matisse, Farida and Katelyn – the incredibly dedicated team and definate geographers of the fortnight.
