The ‘Trent Repertory Company’ were delighted to host the live screening of Richard II produced by The RSC a few weeks ago. This was an amazing opportunity for our English and Drama students as the run, starring David Tennant, has currently sold out.
Students from both the English and Drama department were invited to attend this fantastic event, and all thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The performance of Richard II by David Tennant was exceptional, and both inspired, engaged and delighted our students.
Although a challenging text, all students appreciated the performance and gained so much to feed forwards into their studies. Year 12 Drama student Ed Shock comments, “Being presented the chance to watch the highly-acclaimed RSC play, Richard II, was a fantastic opportunity that Trent College were able to offer us. It is obvious to see why this show was such a success due to the outstanding performance of all members involved. As a Drama student I found it particularly exciting to watch David Tennant give yet another incredible performance; captivating all of the on and off screen audience. He is an inspirational figure to all those interested in theatre. I feel extremely lucky to have viewed this show”.
Whilst Year 8 Drama Scholar Ali Khan noted, “David was incredible! He delivered very funny one liners and then contrasted this with some very strong sensitive moments. Although the language was a challenge, I still really enjoyed the performance. Thank you!”
All in all it was a wonderful experience and one that we hope to repeat at some point in the near future
