As part of the Junior Schools Activity Programme last Thursday 14th November we welcomed a group of pupils from English Martyrs' Catholic Voluntary Academy & Beeston Rylands for an afternoon of reading fun.
Cameron Bovell from Year 9 started the afternoon by sharing his favourite reads. This certainly created a buzz with pupils joining him in recommending their favourite authors. We then played The Reading Game where they had to choose the best covers, blurbs and opening chapters from different genres. It was great to see them agreeing, disagreeing and talking about their favourites. We ended the afternoon with a quiz which sent them off finding their way around the library, discovering new authors and books they’d like to read next. It was a pleasure to share the Devonshire Library with these enthusiastic readers!
