Creative Writing Residential Course

To win your place on the Arvon Residential Creative Writing Competition (14th – 19th April, 2014), simply submit a piece of your own writing under the title ‘Flight’ or ‘That was the Day…’.

Your piece can be any form of prose or poetry, but should not be longer than 800 words.

If you'd like to apply, email Ms Matthews or Mrs Dunford.

One of the most enriching and successful trips we have taken from Trent in the past few years has been the Creative Writing Residential, run in association with the Arvon Foundation. Students spend the week working with published writers in tutorials, group and individual workshops, as well as spending time developing their own writing. For those who love to immerse themselves in the creative process, it is a fantastic opportunity in an idyllic setting, as Head of English Liz Dunford comments; ‘Our young writers have been truly inspired by their time with Arvon and we are very excited about next year’s trip.’

The forthcoming visit, which will take place from 14th – 19th April 2014, is fast approaching and students who are currently in Years 10 - 13 are invited to sign up, as there are still places available. The venue will be The Hurst in Shropshire, former home of playwright John Osborne and surrounded by Housman’s ‘blue remembered hills’.

It promises to be an excellent opportunity for young writers to explore and expand their talents and we look forward to accompanying your son or daughter on their creative journey.
