House Activities


Friday afternoon saw the second week of House activities commence, where it was the week of the Football for Year 7 and Badminton for Year 9. The Houses had both boys and girls playing together and were managed by Year 11 pupils, really showing the benefits of pupils working together, role modelling and leadership. The Football competition was a close call between Kemp and Hanbury House, with Kemp House taking 1st place. Kemp Housemistress Mrs Taylor said, “They deserved the overall win and has set the standard for the rest of the school”.

Wright and Owen House battled it out for joint third place with Cavendish coming in 4th in the competition. Mr Wood, Owen Housemaster added, “The Owen Year 7 House football team showed excellent determination to win two and draw one of their matches last week”. Year 7 tutor Mr Foster also praised the support given to the teams by all members of the Houses saying, “the students were really spurred on by the great support given on the side-lines, and it made a big difference."

Year 9 meanwhile where all playing in the badminton competition. Wright House battled it out to claim 1st place. Housemistress Ms Yates said,” I am so proud of my house, they really put their heart and soul into it. I cannot ask for more”. Kemp and Cavendish battled it out for 2nd and 3rd place, Owen House came 4th and Hanbury 5th. Mr Marriot, Housemaster of Cavendish said of the competition, “The Year 9 Badminton teams represented the House with skill, determination and finesse.” Let’s see how this Friday’s scores come in when Year 8 play in the football competition and Year 10 in the Badminton!
