Trent Pupils Reach Out to Children in the Community

On the morning of Thursday 20th December, a small group of Year 11 Community Service pupils, set off from Trent College to the Women’s Centre in Nottingham. They were armed with party bags, colouring books and crayons for 20 young children who would be attending the Christmas Party at the Centre.

The Centre is run by women for women and provides a safe and supportive environment to help women achieve their aims, become stronger and more independent.

When the girls arrived, they were greeted with the very excited faces of young children waiting for Santa Claus to arrive. The girls played games with the children and when it was time to leave they gave out the party bags, colouring books and crayons. They were very happy to take them from the girls and it was a very humbling experience for them.

Chloe Hallatt said, 'It was a very rewarding experience, especially when seeing the young children's faces as they opened their presents and it gave me an insight of less fortunate women and children's lives'.

They all had a wonderful time and have asked to go back again as soon as possible armed with ‘Story Bags’ this time for the children’s reading time.
