Over the past month two Trent pupils have achieved National recognition as part of the Junior Golf Programme. Olivia Kelly (left) has built upon her success as part of the England ‘Birdie’ Squad in the past two years with selection for the Midland Region England training squad. This select squad consists of 6 girls, with only 5 of these squads in the country.
Olivia (Year 10) is the Derbyshire U18 Champion and U16 Champion and she has also won the Derbyshire 36 hole Ladies Medal event and the Nottinghamshire Scratch Trophy this year.
She has represented Derbyshire County Juniors in the ‘scratch’ team and has won all but one of her matches this year. At the age of only 14 she has been selected to represent the full Ladies Derbyshire County 1st team at Ladies ‘County Week’ this year.
Harriet Evans (right) has also achieved notable golfing success through selection for the Wales Development Squad. She was one of only three Year 9 girls from across the country to be picked, based on past performance, handicap and technical assessments for the squad. Representative honours are achieved at U18 level, so there is some way to go for Harriet, but she is part of the system and will hopefully achieve national success.
