Pia Rose is a Derbyshire Young Achiever 2012

Year 9 student, Pia Rose is to receive a Derbyshire Young Achievers Award to recognise her extraordinary musical success. Unbeknown to Pia or her parents, she was nominated by Councillor Carol Hart and will receive her award at the awards ceremony on Friday 7th December 2012. The evening will be attended by a 'popular celebrity', street entertainers and the local press. 

Pia Rose plays flute, piccolo and piano. She also sings both classical and music theatre songs. In March she gained a distinction and Grade 8 on her flute and next year she is hoping to take her GCSE in music - two years early. Pia Rose is a member of the National Children's Orchestra and has been singing for five years, achieving distinctions at Grade 5 classical and Grade 6 in music theatre". 


Last year, Pia Rose received an award for 'Most Promising Musician' at the Nottingham Young Musician of the Year and she won the Year 8 & under Woodwind Solo Class for the last four years at The Derby Arts Festival.
