Doing their bit for Cancer Research...

Two members of the Trent College community took part in the Race for Life on Sunday in aid of those affected by cancer. The first runner was Jeejee Akl in Year 7, who ran the 5km race for Jessica Gauntley who passed away earlier this year, who was also a Trent College pupil.

Jeejee gave her account of the race, “I walked, jogged and ran the 5km ‘Race for Life’ with a few friends at the Trent Embankment last weekend. It felt good to be running for a good cause, because I was running for those people who couldn’t be there to run, the people who had lost their battle and some of the ones who have survived. I ran for Jess and I had her name pinned to the back of my t-shirt. I ran 5km for Cancer Research and for Jess!"

The second runner from Trent College on the day was Miss Hills, a geography teacher. Miss Hills ran the race in just 22 minutes and 58 seconds, coming in 4th place overall! Miss Hills ran to raise money for cancer research in light of her Mum’s succesful fight against breast cancer earlier this year.

Well done to both Miss Hills and Jeejee, a great achievement for both!
