After 14 months of excitement, planning and anticipation, March 29th finally arrived and the 30 boys representing Trent U15 cricket congregated on the terrace at 3am for the long journey to Dubai. All the players were looking forward to this exceptional opportunity to play cricket in some of the best facilities in the world, against quality opposition in exciting locations. They were to compete in the Arch Trophy against 7 other teams picked from independent schools in the UK and some from the UAE.
The team flew out to Dubai to be greeted a fantastic hotel and an excellent base for the next 8 days of competitive cricket and cultural activities. The boys then spent 8 days playing in an A and B team scoring a win against one of the biggest teams in a crucial match against Eton.
The boys also had some free time to take in some of the sights in Dubai, go on a desert safari and visit the waterpark, which were great opportunities for the team to all forget about the cricket and to enjoy themselves. Not forgetting meeting Warwick Davis!
The team arrived back in England after a hard and eventful week, having learnt things about ourselves and the game. Playing in such different conditions in a 35 degree heat was a challenge and the team had to adapt quickly. Everyone had the most fantastic time and this was an experience which the team will never forget.
The team would like to thank Mr Boswell, Mr Barr, Mr Gallagher and Miss Thornton for putting together a brilliant cricket tour.
