The Devonshire Library is a welcoming, supportive and vibrant learning space at the very heart of school.
The library team work closely with academic departments to support the curriculum and develop independent learning.
Open from 8.15am to 5.30pm students can come in before school, during breaks and lunch to study, read, relax or use one of the 24 PCs.
The library is well-resourced with over 10,000 books. We also have a wide selection of newspapers, magazines and DVDs.
A big part of our library is encouraging reading for pleasure, recommending books and inspiring young readers. There is an excellent range of fiction which is constantly updated and students can recommend new books to add to stock.
Some reading initiatives we get involved with include World Book Day, The Kids Lit Quiz and shadowing the Carnegie and Stan Lee Book Awards.
The Wortley Library in the Wortley Sixth Form Centre supports the Sixth Form curriculum. Alongside textbooks and online databases there are books to encourage wider reading plus newspapers and journals to support their learning. Students can also request books and get research and referencing advice.
