Trent College and The Old Tridents’ Society aim to bring you a series of events and sporting fixtures to suit all tastes and ages, providing an opportunity to socialise with fellow OTs, current and former staff and Friends of Trent as well as re-engaging with the School.
If there's a certain type of event which you think is missing from the calendar, and you would like to share your ideas or even help to organise an event, we would love to hear from you so please do get in touch firstname.lastname@example.org
Be part of the OT Sporting Community! Whether a participant or spectator, there are a number of sporting activities for all OTs and Friends of Trent to get involved with:
On the last Thursday in the Michaelmas term, Trent College hosts the annual Old Trident v Trent Rugby match. This is a highly anticipated fixture with leavers from the last few years returning to take on the current Trent 1st team. The rivalry is all in good taste and many supporters gather on the touch line. Afternoon tea is served for players and all spectators.
Traditionally Trent hosts a mixed hockey 6s competition during the Lent term. This event has grown over the past few years and now sees not only Old Tridents participating but staff, governors and parents also. There is a great atmosphere and everyone is welcome to come along. Held on a Sunday morning in March, a brunch is served for all in the wonderful dining facility, Prince Obolensky building after the matches.
The last Wednesday of the Trinity term sees the Old Tridents XI take on the Trent 1st XI in the annual cricket match. There's nothing like the sound of leather on willow on a sunny afternoon (the weather has been kind in recent years!) and this is a fixture enjoyed by the whole of the Trent community as staff and pupils pop along and take in a few overs during the course of the afternoon, joining friends and family spectators. All are welcome to come along to this relaxed sporting event where a traditional cricket tea is served followed by post match drinks and nibbles.
Netball matches and tennis tournaments can also be arranged and if you would like to get a team together please get in touch.
The Old Tridents’ Society boasts a longstanding Golf Society, pre WWII and reconstituted in 1947. The team participates in a number of annual competitions and continues with great success to this day.
The Society is pleased to announce that Michael Coupland (Trent 1999 to 2004) has taken over the role of OT Golf Society Captain (2016 season) from former Captain, John Bailey.
Playing in a number of competitions, such as the Grafton Morrish, Cyril Gray and Halford Hewitt, the Society is always looking for new members. In particular they are keen for anyone with a category 1 handicap to add additional strength to the squad. If you are interested, please contact us to receive more information from Chris Swallow, OT Society Committee Member and golf team co-ordinator. More details are available please click here
The Society’s Shooting Team gets together annually at Bisley to shoot the 'Schools Ashburton Vets Match'. Along with fifty other schools, this is a competition which takes place at the North London Rifle Club. Little experience is necessary and so anyone interested in taking part in what is a very pleasant and convivial day should contact Chris Stone via email@example.com
