Trent College has a strong tradition of working with and on behalf of others, and an important strand of our Pupil Development and Wellbeing ethos relates to our students making a positive contribution to society.

The link between working on behalf of and for the benefit of others, and our own happiness, has been demonstrated widely. Indeed it is one of the ‘Five Pillars of Wellbeing’ researched by, among others, the NHS, the mental health charity Mind, and founder of Positive Psychology Martin Seligman.

This principle sits at the heart of our commitment to Service activities in Year 11 and Year 12. All students in these year groups take part in a weekly activity which benefits others, with a wide variety of options available:

  • CCF
  • Community Service
  • Lifesaving
  • Leadership (including Sports Leaders)
  • Lower School Clubs support
  • Elms Clubs support
  • Peer Mentoring
  • Paired Reading Scheme
  • Conservation / Ecology Group
