Outstanding LAMDA results
Talented Trent College students have excelled in recent exams conducted by one of the oldest drama schools in the country.
Founded in 1861, The London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA) is one of the leading drama schools in the English-speaking world. LAMDA conducts the most eminent set of public examinations in speech and drama, with the aim of empowering students with the confidence to communicate clearly and effectively at all levels; encouraging them to utilise good vocal and presentation skills through a variety of media.
The LAMDA Examination syllabus is available as an extra-curricular activity for all students at Trent College. They study for both communication and performance exams from Grade 1 to Grade 8 in The Speaking of Verse & Prose; Reading for Performance; Using Spoken English; Speaking In Public; Acting and Devising Drama.
Trent College hold three LAMDA exam sessions per year, and at the end of last year students excelled in their examination results. Out of 53 entries all students passed, with 47% achieving a Merit and 51% achieving a Distinction.
LAMDA qualifications also equate with other qualifications within the sector, with some higher level qualifications being included in the UCAS tariff. In the recent exams eight students achieved their Grade 8 with a Merit or Distinction, thus enabling them to claim 60 or 65 UCAS points.
Special mention goes to students Peter O’Connor, Madeleine Smith and Harriet Boyles for achieving Acting Grade 8 Gold Medal – Merit; Gemma Hardiker, Oliver McCauley, Imogen Scott, Oliver Hayes and Laurence Herbert for achieving Acting Grade 8 Gold Medal – Distinction.
Congratulations to all our talented students.
