Trent College Michaelmas Field Day
Trent College's Annual Field Day took place on Friday 25 September, with plenty of exciting and valuable pursuits for students to get involved in.
The purpose of Field Day is for students to grow as an individual, whilst taking part in activities which will benefit the local community and reinforce the school curriculum. Students develop their confidence and self esteem, as well as a sense of responsibility for themselves and those around them. Field Day also provides an opportunity for tutors to get to know their pupils in a different context aside from the normal school day.
Activities which contribute to the preservation of the local community are a vital part of Field Day, and this year's event was no exception. Students took part in conservation work at Golden Brook Nature Reserve at Breaston and gardening at Treetops Hospice, as well as a sponsored litter pick at Attenborough Nature Reserve, which raised a magnificent sum of over £1000.
Sixth Form students constructed a shed to house the College's newly acquired High Ropes equipment, and Year 11 created a TV advert for the College. Students also expanded their knowledge of Podcasting, Photography and History, with Year 7 students hosting a concert and tea party in the May Hall.
The skills developed during Field Day form part of Trent College's overall aspiration for their students to be well-balanced, confident and socially-skilled young men and women, fully equipped to deal with the demands of the 21st Century.
