School Rules & Expectations

School rules and shared sets of expectations cannot cover all contingencies but the following apply in order to maintain a safe, caring and cultured environment. Through these, all members of the Trent College community aim:

  • To act in accordance with our ethos and our Christian values at all times.
  • To strive for success in all you do and to make the most of the educational opportunities available.
  • To play a full part in keeping Trent a safe and healthy community, being responsible for your own possessions and respecting those belonging to others.
  • To take pride in your own appearance and the school environment

To act in accordance with our ethos and our Christian values at all times.

  • High standards of behaviour are expected at all times.
  • We value diversity and the strength we get from having a community of diverse students.
  • Everyone in our community will be treated with respect.
  • All students are expected to maintain the good name and reputation of our school.
  • All students will be treated fairly regardless of race, gender, disability, sexual orientation, age, religion or belief.
  • All students should respect the Christian foundation of the school and treat the Chapel as a physical representation of this.

To strive for success in all you do and to make the most of the educational opportunities available.

  • We expect a high level of motivation in lessons and all academic commitments to be met.
  • Students are expected to take a full part in the activities of the school; to work hard and to the best of their ability.
  • Representing the school as part of a team, activity or trip is a privilege and students are expected to honour this commitment and conduct themselves in a responsible manner.
  • Students are expected to arrive promptly for registration and to be fully equipped for all school commitments.
  • If a parent believes a school commitment cannot be met, a request for absence must be sent to the relevant Head of Tier who will seek to minimise the disruption to learning and teaching and judge whether or not to authorise this absence.
  • Students in the Lower School and Main School should only visit the Medical Centre with a note from their Head of Year or Tutor.
  • Medical or dental appointments should, whenever possible, be arranged for outside school hours.
  • If a student is absent, parents should inform the school by 0845 and upon the student’s return, provide the school with a written explanation of the absence.
