9 students from Sixth form participated in a trip to the beautiful city of Montpellier in the South of France during Easter. Old Trident Andrew Kinselle owns the language school LSF in the city and came into Trent to encourage us to start a trip there.
The group left early on Saturday and students were collected from Montpellier airport by their host families. They received a warm welcome and were shown the sights of this city, the fastest-growing in France.
On Easter Sunday they visited le pont du gard, a splendid Roman aqueduct and Avignon, famous for its pont and le palais des papes. They went bowling on Easter Monday and it was clear that students were making the most of the stay with their host families (who could not speak English for the most part), were discovering important cultural differences and learning how to put their linguistic skills into action.
On Tuesday lessons started in the school where they took part in different activities in the afternoons and evenings – cinema, ice-skating, and restaurants.
The students were complimented on their excellent behaviour and the week should prove to be extremely beneficial as the oral exams are next week. We hope that this link will prove popular in the future. There really is no better way to improve your French!
