We regularly encourage pupils to participate in outdoor activities, ranging from a night under canvas in Year 7:
Weekend for adventurous Year 7 pupils - September 2007
Each September our new Year 7 go off to the Peak District for the weekend and spend one night under canvas and two days involved in a variety of activities- sailing, windsurfing, kayaking, fencing, archery, problem solving and raft building.
It introduces them to team-building exercises and ensures they quickly make new friends. This weekend activity is included in the fees.
Liam Webster , Head of Lower School at Trent College said, These weekends have been invaluable for the pupils in terms of developing life skills, encouraging them to try alternative sporting activities, and are a good preparation for more adventurous expeditions available to pupils at a later age at Trent. Our ethos is very much about developing holistic individuals, and the Outdoor Pursuits curriculum supports this ethos. Developing an interest in activities is especially important in encouraging a healthy lifestyle at an early age.
