Academic Results 2009

Academic study at Trent is very important, central in all that we do and all that we are. We expect all of our students to achieve the very highest standards and our aim is for each individual here to achieve their own personal best.

The academic curriculum at Trent is robust, not watered down at all. We do not offer 'soft' qualifications or vocational options. Our students continue to study separate sciences, a range of languages, and as well as learning their Latin and histories, our students study the very latest technologies and prepare for a modern world.

At Trent we offer GCSEs, iGCSEs and A levels and we further stretch the very able with preparation for Oxbridge, the Extended Project Qualification, the AQA Baccalaureate and a number of Open University Courses.

We are very proud of our 2009 A level students. From an intake with a relatively broad range of academic abilities, the overall pass rate for our 110 students was 99.4%. One third of all results were awarded an A grade, with the top 50 pupils achieving an AB pass rate of 91.7%.

Our 116 GCSE students achieved an overall pass rate of 95.1%. Of these results 42.3% were awarded either an A* or A grade.

The vast majority of our students go on to good universities and into an impressive quality and range of courses. Most of our students still opt for the traditional professional routes: medicine, law, the city, public service, but increasing numbers also now are beginning to choose more creative and entrepreneurial paths. Of the 106 leavers this year, 94% applied for a place at university, with 91% of those attaining their university of choice.
