Girls Travel to Canada

for a Hockey Tour

Hockey Tour to Canada (Summer 2006)

This summer, 32 girls and 4 staff travelled to Vancouver to compete against a variety of Canadian hockey teams. It was a wonderful experience for all, and the standard of hockey played was particularly high. The group travelled extensively while on the West Coast of Canada and enjoyed relaxing in the warm sunshine.30 hockey enthusiasts and 4 coaches went on the Canada tour this summer, each squad set to play 6 games.

We started at Vancouver than travelled to Vancouver Island by ferry to Duncan where we stayed with host families for some of the time as well as the University of Victoria.

Not all of our time in Canada was spent playing hockey, as we did a wide range of activities such as whale watching, supporting the Vancouver Canadians in a baseball game, theme nights with a personalised awards ceremony and a memorable highlight of the trip was meeting up with Mr Andrew Jones, former head of maths at Trent.

Both teams played excellently and to a high standard despite the 34°C heat wave.
Stats for the A team - played - 5,(one was cancelled) won - 3 lost - 1 drew - 1
Stats for the B team - played - 6, won 3 lost 3
