"Trent is for life, for young or old the OT Society helps to keep the relationship alive, maintaining a link between OTs, each other and the School"

Nigel White, OT Society President

Welcome to the Old Tridents' Society

A flourishing society with an active events, sports and communications programme, the Old Tridents' Society offers you the opportunity to stay in touch with fellow pupils and teachers, long after leaving Trent continuing the fellowship and friendship of your school days well into your adult life.

Our rolling programme of events is a fabulous platform on which to meet up with other OTs, some of whom you may not have seen for quite some time or may have lost touch with altogether, as well as giving you the opportunity (if you have not done so already) to return to your school and see all of the exciting developments that have taken place at Trent.

We also share the success and achievements of fellow OTs with you and bring you news, announcements and many interesting articles, all updated on a regular basis.

  •   OT Society History
    • The Old Tridents’ Society has been in existence almost from the beginning of Trent s history.  Abraham Shuker, Housemaster and teacher for 32 years, liaised with old boys and formally founded the Society in 1903 with Francis Wortley, who became first president of the OT Society.

At over one hundred years old, the Old Tridents' Society has six thousand members who range from 18 to 101 years old.

One of the Society’s original events, the Annual Dinner, has been hosted at a number of venues over the years, including The Connaught Rooms in London, before returning to Trent College, where this very popular dinner remains an annual event today, amongst the many others that have added to the calendar over the years.

There are many eminent Old Tridents, including World War One hero Albert Ball VC, DSO, MC, Legion d’honneur, Order St George – Russia, Prince Alexander Obolensky, Thai Prime Ministers Seni and Kukrit Pramoj, sports broadcaster Rex Alston and industrialist James Steel.  Actors Michael Maloney and Geoffrey Whitehead and England International rugby player Gary Rees are just three of our modern day well known Old Tridents.

For historical information about the Old Tridents' Society or Trent College, please contact us and we will be happy to put you in touch with the School’s archivist.

  •   OT Society Committee
    • The OT Society Committee works in close partnership with Trent, organising a number of key events, reunions, sporting activities and communications throughout the year, as well as administering and managing the affairs of the Society.

      £10 a month - 10 bursaries = 10 children

The Old Trident One Thousand Club (OTOT Club) has been formed so that Old Tridents wishing to give a modest, regular, monthly amount can support Trent's bursary endowment fund administered by the Trent Foundation.

OTOT Club members each give just £10 per month, and with the total amount raised from one thousand members equating to more than £120,000, the Trent Foundation will be able to provide 10 full bursaries, giving 10 deserving children the opportunity to attend Trent College who, without your support, would not otherwise have been able to do so.

If you would like to support the OTOT Club and help us to provide these bursaries, more information is contained below in pdf format, complete with a donation form.  If you are able, please also sign the Gift Aid section, as we will then be able to claim tax relief on your gift, making it worth even more.
