Year 7:

Michaelmas- Workshop Safety Course/ Construction of Safety Award /Wooden Toy Car Project – The Design Process, Woods as a material, Basic hand tools, Drilling machines, Sketching skills, CAD drawing, Finishing woods, Testing and Evaluating.

Lent - Completion of Wooden Toy car Project / Electronic Door Hanger Project – Basic electronic circuits, soldering, Plastics as a material, Working Thermoplastic Materials, Drilling and finishing Plastics, use of CAD CAM for logo production.

Trinity - Completion of Electronic Door Hanger Project/Egg Holder Design challenge/Review of the year/Visit to the Trent Design Exhibition

Year 8:

Michaelmas - Machine Safety Course/Construction of Safety Award/Copper Dish Project – Metals as a material, Marking out, Cutting, Filing, Annealing, Pickling, Hollowing, Planishing, Drilling and Polishing metals to produce a copper dish. Cutting, Shaping and Finishing, Man-made boards using machinery to produce a base for the dish.

Lent - Graphics Taster Jewellery Project - Intro to Graphic Design, aesthetic research, gridding for freehand sketching, generating designs through CAD, Intro to LASER cutting /

Trinity - Pneumatic Rocket Powered Dragster Competition / Review of the Year / Visit to the Trent Design Exhibition

Year 9:

Michaelmas - Risk Assessment Safety Course/ Construction of Safety Award/ Vacuum formed Clock project – Plastics Theory, Designing with Electronic Portfolios, the Vacuum forming process, gerbil trimming, CAD CAM production, rendering.

Lent - Electronic Moodlight Project – Programming Microcontrollers, Constructing a PCB, Sketch modelling / Personal Branding Project / Graphics for the future course.

Trinity - D&T options at GCSE /Completion of the moodlight project - working compliant materials, constructing a moodlight casing using polypropylene.
